If you have ever walked passed the Qualicum Beach train station, you may have noticed a chain linked area of garden plots. This is Qualicum Beach’s community garden. This is just one of the sustainable initiatives the town has provided to it’s residents, who don’t have the space for their own garden or perhaps would just like to grow more. This is in addition to the great social aspects, a place where like minded green thumbs can connect; however, the plot is full. I believe there are currently 40 plots, all which are in use and a waiting list of 30 residents who would like to get involved. The town is currently looking for additional areas that more plots could be accommodated. You can learn more about community gardens or the Qualicum Beach Community Garden Society here.
